It’s that magic day: my latest novel, CHASING CHAOS, comes out today.
As writers, we work so hard, and so much of that hard work is done alone and in private. And then one day rolls around—launch day, today—and it’s weird. Everything feels the same.
I’m expecting my eyes to have turned purple or something else completely strange to have happened to me, personally, to reflect the fact that by writing this book I’ve changed.
But I’m still me. I’m just me with a new novel.
This feeling of dramatic difference on the inside that is invisible on the outside is why I think it is very important for authors to throw themselves very large launch parties with champagne and other treats. The party tells you, the author, and the world, that something special has happened.
